ध्यायतो विषयान्पुंसः सङ्गस्तेषूपजायते |

dhyāyato viṣayānpuṃsaḥ saṅgasteṣūpajāyate .

2.62 When a man thinks of the objects, attachment for them arises; from attachment desire is born; from desire anger arises.

Why this verse: Contemplation of sense objects breeds attachment, attachment breeds desire, desire breeds anger — the entire cycle is traced to its origin in the senses.

BG 2.70Bhagavad Gītā

आपूर्यमाणमचलप्रतिष्ठं

āpūryamāṇamacalapratiṣṭhaṃ samudramāpaḥ praviśanti yadvat .

2.70 He attains peace into whom all desires enter as waters enter the ocean which, filled from all sides, remains unmoved; but not the man who is full of desires.

Why this verse: A person who is not disturbed by the incessant flow of desires — like rivers into the ocean, ever full but never overflowing — attains peace.
