मात्रास्पर्शास्तु कौन्तेय शीतोष्णसुखदुःखदाः |

mātrāsparśāstu kaunteya śītoṣṇasukhaduḥkhadāḥ .

2.14 The contacts of the senses with the objects, O son of Kunti, which cause heat and cold, pleasure and pain, have a beginning and an end; they are impermanent; endure them bravely, O Arjuna.

Why this verse: O son of Kunti, the nonpermanent appearance of happiness and distress, and their disappearance in due course, are like the appearance and disappearance of winter and summer seasons. They arise from sense perception, and one must learn to tolerate them.

BG 2.11Bhagavad Gītā

श्रीभगवानुवाच |

śrībhagavānuvāca .

2.11 The Blessed Lord said Thou hast grieved for those that should not be grieved for, yet thou speakest words of wisdom. The wise grieve neither for the living nor for the dead.

Why this verse: Krishna does not dismiss Arjuna's grief — he re-frames it. The wise mourn neither for the living nor the dead, because what is real is never lost.
